Samsung Armani M7500-Power+Style

Samsung first joined forces with fashion designer Armani back in late 2007 and the result was the beautiful Samsung P520 Armani, a svelte touchscreen handset with a clever interface designed specifically for it.  It was a massive success and loved by both techies and fashionistas, but it was  eventually overshadowed by the superior Samsung Tocco, which did the phone-side better but lacked the designer branding.

Fast forward to October 2008 and Samsung unveiled their newest collaboration with Armani, the M7500 Night Effect.  This time the branding was not simply Armani, but Emporio Armani, their popular range for the younger, fashion conscious person.  Since then we’ve had to wait a while until the M7500 was ready for sale, but now that time has arrived and we can take a look at the latest designer mobile phone to hit the stores in considerable detail.

Like many designer items, it’s not hard to miss the fact this is an Armani phone and it will probably not be the kind of handset chosen by shrinking violets, as the M7500 makes a loud and clear statement about who you are and how you want to be perceived.  Of course, it doesn’t do this by endless applications or high-tech goodies, but by cool looks, impressive build-quality and plenty of flash – literally!

FEATURES:

The body of the M7500 Night Effect is just 12mm thick and it weighs only 90 grams, so you should have no problems slipping it into the pocket of your Armani jeans or bag!  The screen is protected by a piece of reinforced glass and the body itself is soft-touch rubber, making the Night Effect extremely tactile. Here the Night Effect things are a little more straight forward as it’s not a touchscreen handset, but don’t think it is any less cool!  You can choose between a scrolling V pattern or standard grid style layout to match your tastes and as with most modern Samsung handsets, the M7500 is a pleasure to use.  A series of clever shortcuts on the home screen make accessing often used features a breeze too.

Encircling the M7500 is an LED light which glows either red, green or blue when you call someone or your phone rings.  Rather than being a simple strip light, on the left hands side of the handset you’ll find the Emporio Armani script and logo which also lights up!  The colour is user-selectable and also illuminates when the phone is powered up or when using the music player.  This unusual feature really makes the M7500 standout, while also informing everyone nearby you have an Armani mobile phone!

In addition to a huge phonebook, the M7500 has a variety of organisational tools including a recordable voice memo function, a to-do list, calculator, calendar and alarm, so even though the Armani is primarily about fun, don’t think they have abandoned the basics!

By combining Samsung’s technological know-how and Armani’s timeless style and attention to detail, the M7500 has become something unusual, a fashion phone which can be used everyday, with useful features that perform equally as well as any other handset not blessed with such a desirable badge!
